More Than Just a Pretty Face

When children are young, there's nothing wrong with a good bit of Disney but as they get older, you need to consider the influence these characters have on developing personalities. Even Disney understands that perhaps their early princesses don’t make the best feminist role models for young girls. Slowly but surely, Disney have been trying to turn their Princesses into better examples for our children and what better way than to cast a young woman that has already inspired an entire generation of people.

How Theresa May’s Actions Could Affect the UK Economy

On the 11th of July 2016, Theresa May became the Leader of the Conservative Party, succeeding David Cameron who resigned following the UK’s vote to leave the EU. The significance of this is that Ms May also became the only female PM we’ve had in the 21st Century and only the second in our political history, behind Margaret Thatcher.

Such an appointment is clearly quite a progressive action in what can often be seen as quite a male-dominated environment, and already Theresa May has shown her intent to succeed by laying out plans for the country, focusing in particular on the economy. Here, we look at some of these plans and question how these could affect the economy and UK businesses in the coming years of her tenure as PM.

Vikki van Someren – The Woman Behind The Bike Shed

Vikki van Someren 2

Vikki van Someren is married to Anthony ‘Dutch’ van Someren, the founder of the hugely successful Bike Shed Motorcycle Club (BSMC) in 2011. Since that date, The Bike Shed has not only run annual custom motorcycle shows in London and Paris, it has also branched out and set-up a 12,000 square foot venue in Shoreditch that features a 100 seat café and restaurant, retail space and even a barber shop.

As well as this venue hosting regular events, Bike Shed’s Facebook page currently has over 650,000 followers, 100,000 follow it on Instagram and BSMC is a major player in the custom bike scene with manufacturers such as Triumph, Yamaha and Harley-Davidson keen to be associated with it. And it’s fair to say that without the driving force of Vikki behind it, much of this success simply wouldn’t have happened.
