Rossie's FUNdraising Friday - Radio City 96.7

Now in it's fifth year (previously Rossie's 24 Hour Breakfast) Rossie's FUNdraising Friday with Panorama Kitchens will return on Friday 4th October for 12 hours of broadcasting to raise money for children across Merseyside, the North West and North Wales through Radio City's Cash for Kids and Liverpool Unites, the official charity of the Liverpool ECHO & Post!

In previous years the day has taken the format of 24 hours live on air, however this year Rossie's FUNdraising Friday will see Radio City Breakfast presenter Rossie & Co broadcast LIVE from Signature Living Hotel, Stanley Street for 12 hours from 7am-7pm and then he will be hosting an exclusive gig/dinner at Hopskotch; a new restaurant on the corner of Mathew Street and Stanley Street, with a special act TBA. Tickets will be on sale for this exclusive gig soon.

There are a variety of ways that you can get involved; help us raise much needed funds by joining in on our 'wear your onesie to work day' or you can also tune in on 4th October and make a bid on our auction items. We have some fantastic prizes lined up already!

'What about the business'? Why maternity leave scares employers

How will the clients react? Can we cover the workload? What your employer really thinks when you say you're having a baby

Marilyn Stowe is senior partner at Stowe Family Law

As an employer, I must make a confession. News that an employee is going to have a baby is of course welcomed with genuine delight, but I can't help thinking: "What about the business?"

A child is a great blessing for any couple. But, as the owner of a law firm, even the temporary departure of one of my staff can lead to worries. Among our current fee earners, there isn't always the slack to absorb a colleague's entire caseload for a year or more, so cover is brought in. And, when the time comes to hand back the workload, what then? Primarily, what of the clients? However well changes are handled, will emotional clients going through a divorce – one of the worst experiences of their lives – be keen to lose the lawyer in whom they have placed so much confidence? And can the transitions take place seamlessly, with both lawyers retaining their jobs? That's the firm's headache.

Entrepreneurship: A viable career choice for increasing numbers of women around the world

Paraphrasing the current advertising campaign for Denmark’s most famous beer, if Carlsberg made studies of entrepreneurs, they would have created the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM).

Established in 1999, GEM is the most comprehensive longitudinal study of entrepreneurship ever undertaken.

Last year, more than 198,000 adults in 69 economies took part in the GEM survey, which represented an estimated 74% of the world’s population and 87% of its GDP.

And as part of its extensive research agenda, the GEM team recently released a special report that focuses on women who start and manage businesses across the World.
