Women start social enterprises at a higher rate to men. Research shows women start social enterprises to do some good and to fill gaps in the market place that they they have usually found as a result of a personal passion or interest.

The University of St Andrews in Edinburgh, have announced that , as a wedding present for William and Kate, they will sponsor a Student to carry out their studies at the University.

They have obviously looked at our website, and seen that we have joined forces with Liverpool John Moores University, and we are providing Bursary funding for two Students, at our Women of the Year Awards on June the 24th.


Women's Hour on BBC Radio 4

At Women In Business we thought you may be interested in listening to Women's Hour on BBC Radio 4 when it airs on the 9th February and there is an opportunity to take part in a phone-in on the 10th February and potentially further opportunities over the coming year for people to get involved.


Women and entrepreneurs make New Year Honours List

New Year Honours List recognises outstanding achievement and service throughout the UK. 45% of the award winners were women. Famous names receiving OBEs included the actress Sheila Hancock, for services to drama; fashion designer Katherine Hamnett, for services to the fashion industry and singer Annie Lennox, for her charity work with Oxfam.


UK female entrepreneurship up by 15% in the past decade

New research shows female-owned businesses are on the rise.Research carried out by Aston Business School shows that, during the last decade, more women than ever before started their own business. Enterprise UK, the organisation responsible for Global Entrepreneurship Week, commissioned the research.
